I have been a high school social studies teacher for the past 15 years. I have taught courses in AP World History, AP European History, AP U.S. Government and Politics, World History Honors, World History, American Government, and the Holocaust. I am also the author of two books: Teaching With Text-Based Questions (Routledge, 2014) and Teaching With DBQs (Routledge, 2018). I am also an author of children's poetry. My poetry has appeared in literary journals and in Nile Stanley's Creating Readers With Poetry (Maupin House, 2004).
My goal as a teacher is always to maximize enrollment while maximizing results and minimizing pressure on students. I use both whole-group direct instruction and small-group collaborative learning activities to teach effectively.
