While working as a tutor, teacher, and credentialed therapist, the resources needed, covering more than the basics, were simply hard to find.
Most of the available activities focused solely on academic skills, which were difficult to adapt for special learners, or focused solely on social skills, which were boring to typical learners and never addressed the unspoken social contract. How should we teach things like gratitude, empathy, or conversation skills?
Kid Lit Motivates was inspired by the knowledge that with an anchoring picture book, any subject can be made engaging, incorporative of social AND academic skills, and adaptive for all learners.
We create resources inspired by subjects we love, activities we need, and books that engage the imagination.
We're very interested in working with authors to create learning materials that pair with their published works, and working with parents and teachers to create learning materials that are themed and specially designed with the particular learner(s) in mind.
If there's a book that a child loves with a great message, we know how to design the activities you're looking for.
We believe in scaffolded learning opportunities, integrating social and academic learning, prioritizing communication, and providing creative, interactive moments for individual and group experiences. As neurodivergent humans and atypical learners, the authors take pride in creating with every learner in mind.
