After years working as a music educator, music therapist, and behavior support therapist, I saw a lot of commonality in the needs of typically developing and neuroatypically developing children, specifically in social and emotional domains. In addition to blogging for parents, freelance writing, and being the self-published author of one motivational picture book (more to follow), I create resources for teachers, therapists, and parents alike that focus on important areas of growth like self-esteem, communication skills, and self-regulation.
I'm a humanist at heart that takes a scaffolded approach to education. All of my resources are designed to be modified for a range of developmental abilities.
In 8th grade, I won the school's Integrity Award and I still wear that like a badge of honor.
I've earned a Masters in Music Education, with a concentration in Music Therapy, from the University of Kansas and a Bachelors in Music Education from LIU Post.
My first book, Maddie Steiner, Fashion Designer, is a picture book about a clumsy, can-do girl on a mission to make the dress of her dreams. She'll set goals and stumble, make messes and mistakes, on her way to designing a fashion masterpiece. It's available for purchase on Amazon.
