TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught in public and private school systems as educator and administrator. My 25 years of experience ranges from birth through sixth grade not to mention adults in the form of parents and employees. My experience would not be complete without the many lessons my own children have given me. Sitting on both sides of the desk at parent teacher conferences has strengthened my teaching and communication abilities.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style as described by students is "crazy" and in constant motion while expecting everyone's best at all times. Basically, "crazy" comes from my belief that hooking the students is very important. I have been caught tap dancing and writing with sharpies on desk tops. We are on the move throughout the day to keep me awake and engaged! Expecting them to do their individual best comes through in my differentiation and high expectations. I strive to have my students engaged, on task, and smiling throughout the day.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Pershing Great Teacher - student essay contest about their teacher; Nominations to District Teacher of the year; Hastings Foundation Grant - HPS foundation award to innovative teaching; Playful Award - given by adminstration; "Crazy" Teacher award - Given by my class year....Personally, this award means the most to me.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA - Elementary Education k-6 (emphasis in reading and social studies); Early Childhood; Masters - Differentiated Instruction; Other education emphasis: Technology, Quantum Learning, Anita Archer, Whole Brain Teaching, High Ability Learners, and Writing instruction

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My faith colors my world. I believe teaching is my calling and ministry not my job. This fact fuels my passion to assist all students to grow from where they are to the next step. My students are all unique and have something to offer our room. It is my goal to give each of them that understanding and the realization that they have a place in this world.
