I have taught grades 3-5 for the last 14 years in public schools in North Carolina. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Wilmington, my Master's Degree from Pfeiffer University in Elementary Education as well. I earned my National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist in 2005. I have been a general ed. teacher, as well as a ELA teacher. I have worked in both AIG and EC inclusion settings as well.
I have a kid-centered approach to teaching. I spend a lot of time getting to know my students' strengths, weaknesses, backgrounds, interests, and dislikes. I try to teach a lot of small group lessons to meet the needs of all of my students. I love incorporating technology and inquiry-based learning projects, as often as possible. The best part of my job is working with children and seeing them "get it" after working hard on a skill or concept.

I am married to my high-school sweetheart and we have 2 wild and silly boys, ages 11 and 7. I love spending time with them, my 3 sisters and their families, as well as our college friends and their families. I enjoy running, watching my kids play sports, and being involved with my church.
