TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently a Special Education teacher for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades. Before becoming a Special Education teacher, I worked as a Community Counselor for a mental health center. My focus was with children and adolescents. This was actually a blessing in that it helped prepare me for the different students I currently encounter.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a firm believer in explicit instruction, as well as repetition of content/skills being taught. In order for students to retain what they are learning, the environment needs to be consistent. I also believe that learning can be fun! I have found that hands-on activities truly enhance any learning strategy! :-)

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I received the Teacher of the Year award for the 2009-2010 school year.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts (focus-sculpture); Masters in Community Counseling; Masters in Special Education

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am married and have one sweet daughter and one CRAZY boxer! :-)
