I have been an educator since 2004. I taught sixth grade Science and Social Studies for 9 years before I made the switch to third grade. I am currently teaching in a gifted and highly motivated classroom with a STEM philosophy.
I love to include technology in my teaching. I tend to allow my students to submit work either by computer or in a written format. I love to use creative projects to allow my students to think outside the box and apply their learning standards to their own lives. I find that when students can relate to their learning, they are more likely to retain the information.
I was part of the OEDG grant, which took educators to South Dakota and Costa Rica to study the culture of students and Geology of the regions. I was part of the EETT grant, providing technology and technology training for educators.
I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and a postgraduate degree in elementary education. I am middle school endorsed in Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Music. I have taken some masters courses, with a focus on Geology.
In addition to teaching, I am also the Cheer Coach at my school for both Elementary and Middle School and the National Junior Honor's Society Sponsor. I am a mother of two and have been balancing family life with teaching since 2004. It is a lot of work, but I love being so involved with both my family and school.
