Started as a private tutor in K-12 all subjects (English, Art, Math, Handwriting, ESL, Introductory Spanish, Introductory Japanese, Social Studies). Worked as a teaching assistant at USC for 2 years focusing on Chinese/Asian History. Completed my single subject social studies credential and authorization for introductory Japanese.
I like to focus on engaging students in learning. I like them to be active but also thinking. I use worksheets, laptops, websites, art (traditional and computer), as well as games to get students active in the classroom. Project based learning is what I strive to use and I pair this with repetition through hand outs and in class games.

I grew up in Southern California where I attended public school for 1-12. I attended 7 different public schools during my 1-12 education, this gave me the opportunity to see different styles of learning not just for teachers but in schools as well. I took AP classes in high school (European History, English literature, English Language, U.S. History, U.S. government and U.S. economics) and passed them all. I attended San Diego State University where I majored in history and minored in Japanese. I completed my Master's at the University of Southern California in East Asian Area Studies and later did my credential program and a Master's in Education at Alliant International University. I have also studied abroad in England and Japan.
I am extremely creative and love thinking up new ideas for classroom projects and games. I have experience with all kinds of technology (PC and Mac) and like to adapt my lessons and make my own worksheets. If I see my students need extra help in an area I create my own worksheets or adapt what I am using to fit that need. Adaptation and creativity are extremely important to me, as well as never giving up. I am a hard worker and love working with students and seeing them grow not only in knowledge but also as individuals.
