I have taught for 25 years now! I started my career in the primary grades K-3. I love working with the littles! Now, I’m in sixth grade and have loved the growth I’ve made there as a teacher. They have challenged me. I’ve been a mentor teacher, master teacher, and am still a technology coach at my district while still teaching full time. I was on a planning curriculum team for my district when Common Core first started, so I’ve been incorporating ideas since 2011 into my daily planning. I have my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.
I am all about engagement! I love to do activities that are interactive and provide choice. I enjoy honoring all styles of learning and ways to show you know. I try to integrate tech into lessons as much as possible. It’s like speaking a second language to me now. I think tech! I enjoy getting connected with other educators and sharing ideas! I am an Innovative Educator with Microsoft and a tech coach for my district. I have been awarded various technology grants through Donors Choose and Irvine Public Schools Foundation. In addition, I was awarded a 1:1 Chromebook grant through my district in 2015. I was also Teacher of the Year for my school in 2010.
I went to Loyola Marymount University for my Bachelors in English Literature. I then received my teaching credential and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Cal Poly Pomona..
I am also married to an awesome graphic designer, Brannen, who helps make my lessons pop and look more professional. We have two creative teenage boys who keep us on our toes!
