TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I teach in a middle school classroom with children with varying types of developmental disabilities, ranging from autism, to severe emotional disorders, and to intellectually disabled. I have over 10 years of experience and enjoy the challenge of taking the common core curriculum and making it relevant and doable for my students. Your feedback is welcome!!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use direct instruction and follow the PBIS model. My students are on point systems and earn points for following directions or the goals according to their ieps. My teaching style constantly changes because every child is different and I focus on meeting them where they are at.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BS in Health and PE, concentrating on Cardiac Rehabilitation, a masters in Special Education, and have completed the coursework towards my BCBA. In fact, I am waiting anxiously to hear if I passed my exam!!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I live in North Carolina with my wonderful husband of 26 years. We have 2 children, one is on her own and works for an organization that supports women who have suffered from human trafficking. My son is a junior at college majoring in Exercise Science.
