TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a First year Kinder Teacher! I have taught Intervention for two years and Music for three.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Creativity and expression is an important aspect of childhood. I enjoy watching as children become interested and passionate about musical expression. Because music is interwoven throughout our lives, I strive to introduce students to different types and “voices” of music. I thoroughly enjoy opening the possibilities of a variety of branches and genres of music to all students. As an educator, I enjoy the fact that no two days are the same. Teaching in general is spontaneous and passionately expressive. The moment I hold most cherished is when things begin to click with students. Seeing that “light” click on is when you know that you have succeeded your goals. That moment in it of itself gives the greatest satisfaction.

I graduated from Pepperdine University with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, music emphasis. Along with this degree, I obtained a multiple subject teaching credential.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I strive to promote a safe and engaging environment for children. In a nutshell, my educational philosophy is that children learn by having the base of a caring environment. After this environment is met, they are then able to understand the laws and procedures of the classroom. After that, children develop a uniqueness to the way they learn and how they function in a classroom community. I want to allow students to have an environment where they can feel comfortable and safe from all of life’s trials. To have a place where you are safe to learn and express yourself is something that our future society needs. When students feel safe, that’s when learning begins to take flight. My educational philosophy allows for a safe environment that will help students learn in an effective and engaging manner.
