TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for 18 years. I started in the first public Waldorf School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I then worked at a private Waldorf school in Virginia. After three years I returned to Milwaukee. I have been a teacher with Milwaukee Public Schools for a 15 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is definitely a mix of tradition methods with Waldorf methods. I try to give my students an authentic kindergarten experience that is developmentally appropriate and meets the children where they are academically. We do a lot of hands-on activities. Manipulative are used over worksheets. We use a lot of play dough, dried beans, puppets and housekeeping activities. I try to push back against the push down curriculum. I bring in the academic skills that my students need through playful engagement.
