Magi has taught Kindergarten for 22 years, and her classes through the years have been composed of English Learners. Before teaching Kindergarten, she taught 1st and 2nd grades in a Language Learning Center (ELD) for 12 years to students who had recently moved to this country. In college, she was a Teacher Aide for 3 1/2 years in K and 2nd grade Bilingual classes.
I believe in student-centered instruction. We teach our students at their level and measure their progress instead of the end product only. Differentiation and Small Group Instruction are vital to helping students learn and succeed.
Every day we get to work with our kids is an honor!
My daughters graduated from the same high school and university as I did!
Magi moved to the US from Cuba when she was 3 years old, so she remembers being an ELD student in a time when there was no ELD instruction. She decided at a young age that she would be there for her students because her teachers were not yet trained to be there for foreign students like her, although she had amazing, kindhearted teachers!
For this reason, many of the activities contain many leveled and differentiated aspects. Our mission is to allow access to the same content to all learners, while making it easy for the teacher.
