This year, I had the remarkable privileged of looping with my 3rd graders up to 4th grade. I have also taught Kindergarten and first. Part of my teacher in-service training was in a self-contained gifted program for 5th & 6th graders, which is serving me well this year. I am the math intervention teacher for our school's 4th & 5th graders who are not served by math IEP's. I worked as a Substitute Teacher for two years which gives me a nice insight into "sub friendly" lessons.
I love to let the kids explore and discover. One of the great joys is when kids have so much fun learning, they forget that's what they're doing.
I think the awards come every day. It's the little notes and drawings, the heartfelt hugs, the funny little kid saying, "You're my best teacher ever. I wish I was your mom... or your aunt... or something..." Kids are awesome! :D
I earned my degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University. I hold endorsements in Literacy, Government, and Social Studies. I am currently working on earning my Gifted & Talented endorsement.
I have two lovely daughters, a second grader and a Senior in high school. They are my beta testers. The little one is a master at finding the bugs ("note to self: remind the Kinders not to eat the glue/shaving cream mixture") and the big one is a master at making the prototype and ensuring the lesson is "not lame, Mom." :) Thanks so much for looking!
