This is my 13th year teaching! I have taught Pre-K for 4 years in Florida, Kindergarten for 7 years in Florida and in Virginia, and 3rd grade for 2 years in Florida. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and am ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) endorsed. I am trained in LAP-D, DECA, B.E.L.L., PALS, DRA, Diebels, Smart Board, AR/STAR, IRLA, DFA Testing, IXL Mathematics, and have been a member of a School Social Committee and Relay for Life. I love what I do and can't see myself doing anything else!
I teach using a lot of hands-on activities, especially in math. The children seem to learn better and enjoy the lesson more when there is a game involved in the lesson, as well as manipulatives. I also read a lot of books and integrate all subjects within the unit. The children can't wait for story time and when the story is over they are already asking me what book will we be reading tomorrow!
I was a recipient of the Distinguished Academic Achievement Award and nominated for Teacher of the Year on my second year teaching Pre-K.
I went to Florida International University and received my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and ESOL Endorsement with honors. I received my master's degree in Reading at NOVA Southeastern University three years later.
I love to collect and read books for children. I really enjoy attending courses and workshops and volunteering in any way that I can. I love to sing and write educational songs for my students!
