I have been teaching for nine years in both suburban and urban schools with students from fifth through eighth grade. I taught as a departmentalized science teacher for five years and have spent the past four years teaching all subjects in a self-contained, regular education classroom.
I believe in having a variety of activities for students to engage in learning. Students have different learning styles, interests, and abilities, so often plan lessons that are differentiated so they can demonstrate their understanding in a way that highlights their unique talents. My biggest goal this year is increasing my students' research skills and technological fluency by using Google Classroom on a more regular basis. They enjoy using the computer, learn to use it more effectively, and improve their typing skills while using resources that are more aesthetically pleasing and well-designed.
