TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught in both small rural schools as well as larger city based schools. I have taught grades 1-12 in a variety of subjects; mostly targeted in grades 6-12. The majority of my career has been spent as a senior science teacher teaching science 9/10, physics 20/30, chemistry 20/30, and biology 20/30. My focus is now on grade 6 and students in gifted education programs (students with higher IQs and critical thinking abilities).

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style can be described best as project based. I am very discussion/activity based. My students get choice and flexibility in designing and contributing to their projects. I do group work and individualized work. Experiments and field experiences are large components of my teaching. I focus on a lot of small group differentiated work currently, but also in high school years have done more individual assessments.
