The Know It Learning community is a grassroots educational group started by Matthew Carroll, a high school teacher of eight years in Massachusetts. The mission of Know It Learning is to give teachers of all grades, subjects and levels an opportunity to access lesson plans grounded in academic research that may otherwise only be accessible to those in professional development program. Know It Learning feels that all teachers should be able to access the vast academic resources that can improve their regular classroom practices quickly and easily. Please explore the resources posted in the store, or email at Knowitlearning@gmail.com with and further questions, comments or requests.
The founders of Know It Learning believe that all students have the ability to learn and perform at the highest levels. It is the duty of the classroom teacher to help the student discover their talents, passions and academic strengths so that the student can tap into their inner genius. The teaching philosophy of Know It Learning is similar to the parable of the three carpenters who were all hired to build a new house together: - The first carpenter said he was working in order to make some money - The second carpenter said he was working so that he may make new purchases for his home - The third carpenter said he was working because he believed that his work would be just as good as a great cathedral. You can guess which carpenter put 100% of his effort into his work. The first two carpenters were working because they had to. The third carpenter took his job so serious and cared enough about the final product that he likened the task to building a majestic cathedral. Of the three carpenters, which one do you think created the best product? When you enter your classroom, are you teaching because you have to? Or are you building a cathedral? Know It Learning will provide you with the tools that you need to make your classroom and pedagogy the great cathedral of your school.
