I have been a teacher for twenty years. My first two years were spent teaching first grade. The other eighteen years of teaching have been in kindergarten classrooms.
I view myself as a facilitator of learning. I encourage students to work together on some activities and independent on others. My teaching style is a hands on approach. Once concepts are learned through concrete experiences, I believe it's important to transition to written expression of knowledge since paper/pencil tests are currently still used to document learning in the upper grades.
"Teacher of the Year" for Newnan Crossing Elementary in 2007
