TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching at the secondary level for the past 16 years, and I have to say, I still love every minute of it! Currently, I teach 8th grade ELA, The American Sitcom, Creative Writing, and Library Research, but I've taught almost all of the classes my school offers: ENG 101 and 105, college courses, English 12, English 10, English 9, Public Speaking, and Short Story. I love the variety in my schedule, even though it can be overwhelming at times!

MY TEACHING STYLE

From the minute students enter my room until the minute they leave, I want students to be cognitively engaged. This means that they're reading, writing, or discussing the material we are studying for the majority of class time.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am honored every day to be working with the students I have in class and the teachers I have in my hallways. I know that is not a real "honor," but is the honor that matters most to me.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

My undergraduate degree major is in English and my minor is in Education. My graduate degree is in English Literature with a concentration in Creative Writing.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I come from a family of educators. Being in this field is more satisfying than any other job I think I could do. I have two daughters, and I enjoy watching them play school when they get home from school every day!
