After graduating from ISU, I spent a year working with students with special needs, primarily autism. I currently work in a medium sized rural town as a kindergarten teacher. This is my first year in my very own classroom and I love it! I have amazing mentors and coworkers!
I love to incorporate technology as much as possible! I am constantly using the smart board for EVERYTHING! I love to have the kids interact in the lesson by coming to the front and having them manipulate the smart board, and they LOVE it! I also love to show videos and play songs to help with learning, because sometimes, kids learn better by hearing the information presented in a different, more fun way!
I went to Illinois State University and graduated in 2015 from the elementary education program. I am certified to teach kindergarten through 9th grade and have endorsements in math, science, social studies and english language arts. In my last year of college, I was able to student teach for a whole year. I student taught in a 5th grade classroom, in a single elementary school. I also got to experience being an 8th grade math teacher in a large junior high. It is a little spread out, but I loved my experience and the amazing teachers who let me into their classrooms!
I can't wait to see where my first year of teaching takes me, and where my career takes me!
