I have been a music teacher for three years, having experience both in public and private areas of education. Currently I teach K-6 General Music, 4th-6th Grade Honor Choir, and 5th – 6th Grade Marimba Ensemble. I also have a private lesson studio for students who want to study clarinet, saxophone, recorder, or guitar.
When teaching students about music I always make it a priority that instruction is tuneful, artful, beatful, and joyful. In my classroom I include singing, movement, creating (games, musicals and skits, props), and playing with quality percussion and wind instruments. My influences include methodologies from Feierabend, Kodaly, and Orff.
School and private lesson students consistently receive excellent and superior ratings at State Solo and Ensemble events. Academic Honor Roll at Central Washington University from 2007 - 2011. First Place - Collegiate Reed Ensemble Division at Musicfest Northwest (Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA) in 2010.
In 2011 I received my Bachelor of Music in music education from Central Washington University. Also I am certified in Walt Hampton Hot Marimba - Level 1 from World Music Drumming.
I am married to an amazing wife and we have three wonderful Labrador dogs. In addition, I have a passion and sense of enthusiasm for educating students about life skills and the art of music!
