I have been blessed to be an educator during the last 22 years, fourteen years as a primary classroom teacher and an eight-year "bookmark" in the middle. During the hiatus, I tutored students in grades K-8 in all subject areas. I hold an Ohio K-8 Teaching License, with a K-12 Reading Endorsement. I am embarking on a new journey, becoming a 4th grade content-area teacher for the 2013-2014 school year. My goal is to help fourth graders become proficient with reading-to-learn while they master Science and Social Studies.
Teaching is both a science and an art. Teachers-as-scientists incorporate sound assessment and research-based strategies to help each child reach his or her potential. As a teacher, I strive to connect with my students as individuals and set high expectations for their learning. The connecting and encouraging unique individuals requires the finesse of an artist. I love my career and I do my best to share the love of learning with my students.
