I did my student teaching in 1st and 5th grade. I taught Kindergarten for one year, and Pre-K and Kindergarten in the same classroom for one year. I have been a Field Assessor for an educational study to test the effectiveness of a Pre-K literacy curriculum. I have also been a tutor for Homeschoolers in the area where I live. I have had Montessori training and have taught Montessori and traditional in a public school.
My teaching style is very hands-on. Most of my materials that I create are meant for a hands-on classroom.
3 of my 7 Pre-K students went on to 1st grade reading the next year. My second year, 18 of my 20 Kindergarten students were reading independently before completing Kindergarten. I had the highest pass rate for my classroom on the PALS test in my school.
I graduated from Liberty University and majored in Elementary Education with a Virginia Teaching License for Pre-K through 6th grade.
If a doctor, lawyer, or dentist had 40 people in his office at one time, all of whom had different needs, and some of whom didn't want to be there and were causing trouble, and the doctor, lawyer, or dentist, without assistance, had to treat them all with professional excellence for nine months, then he might have some conception of the classroom teacher's job. ~Donald D.
