I have 7 years experience teaching English Language Arts and U.S. History. I am the middle school Reading Specialist.
My teaching style is to create engaging, authentic units in which students can gain the skills and experience necessary for high school and career success. We use the TEL-Con writing strategy (Thesis/Topic, Evidence, Link to Thesis, Conclusion), and the writing process (brainstorm, outline, reflect, write, revise, edit, publish) in all that we do. I also modify and create scaffolding and templates so that every student can find a measure of success with each task.
I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I have a Masters degree in Elementary Education. I also hold a Reading Teacher license (316), a Reading Specialist license (317), and an ESL license (395).
I am currently writing my dissertation on Digital Literacy. I am pursuing a doctorate in Language and Literacy with a focus in online reading comprehension.
I live in Milwaukee, WI with my loving husband and my adorable dogs, Rocket and Ruffy.
