I spent the first five years of my career teaching eighth grade language arts which consisted of instruction in reading, writing, grammar, speaking and listening. After completing my Master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology, I took a position as the LRC director in a 9-12 building. I now teach a variety of lessons on instructional technology, help teachers locate relevant resources for their classroom, and act as an instructional coach as teachers transition to the Common Core State Standards.
All of my lessons are designed with Grant Wiggins' "Understanding by Design," or UbD model. In moving toward the Common Core, my units are always designed with a high level performance task as an assessment. Learning tasks are designed to move students toward being able to complete the performance task independently.

Bachelor's of Science in Education with Middle Grades Endorsement from Northern Illinois University in December 2006. Master's of Education in Instructional Design and Technology with a certificate in Library Information Sciences from Northern Illinois University in May 2012.
While I love being in the classroom, my passion is for curricular design. I am willing to look at any proposals for work for grades 6-12.
