I have nine years of teaching experience in grades 1-5. I have been in third grade the longest (4 years). My heart belongs in first or third grade!
My teaching style is very diverse. I feel that educators should build their teaching style "tool belt" to reach ALL learners. On a typical day, you will see me take on many roles and gather my students in many different manners to address their educational needs. Throughout my day, I teach whole group, small group and one on one lessons. As a teacher, I take on many roles like: coaching, demonstrating, modeling, facilitating, lecturing and delegating. I always try to include emphasis on higher-order thinking as well as the multiple intelligences. My lessons are driven a backward design. I pre and posttest students and use that information to drive my instruction and groupings. Students play an active role in their education and I provide them with the many tools they need. Students do this by monitoring their own progress, having the freedom to choose between a menu of items to encourage their learning, and by working in collaborative groups.
I attended Indiana University for my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an addition in Reading (PreK-12). Indiana State University is where I obtained my High Ability Education Degree (PreK-12).
I am new to the "TpT Sellers Club." I look forward to learning lots!
