This year is my 16th year teaching and time really does fly when you are having fun! I have experience teaching 2nd and 3rd grades, and have also worked in summer enrichment programs with 4th grade students. I've taught regular ed and inclusion, and truly love love love being a teacher!
I use a mix of styles in my classroom. When teaching, I model/demonstrate and have students model/demonstrate. I love to use slates or communicators as a quick hands-on way for all students to participate and for me to assess who is secure and who needs more assistance, especially in math. I love acting as a facilitator of learning by putting students in groups and doing reciprocal teaching or centers. I like to incorporate different learning styles and technologies into my teaching to address all types of learners. Centers are so much fun and I find that they allow me to differentiate and work in smaller groups which I enjoy and my students love. Most of all, I believe it is important to learn what my students need and adapt my teaching style to their needs.
