I taught my first two years of my teaching career at a small Catholic school in Kentucky in a first grade classroom. This year I will be taking on a new position as a science/math teacher at the fifth grade level in a large public school.
I like to have an eqillibrium among teacher-centered and student-centered instruction. Each activity begins with a engaging review/preview to build background knowledge followed by a mini-lesson. After the mini-lesson students break off individually or in small groups to work on activities relating to the lesson.
