Most of my teaching experience has been with struggling and reluctant readers with a focus on ninth grade, however I have taught all high school grade levels. I have taught literacy skills to ninth graders who were reading on a fourth-grade level, special education students who were placed in integrated classrooms with mainstreamed students, ESL students, and those with behavior problems. I am currently homeschooling my daughter who is nine.
At the core I am a secular classical educator who likes to focus on the fundamentals in the early grades. However, I am also a firm believer in some child-led learning to help keep students engaged.
