I have eight years of experience teaching Kinder and 1st grade. Teaching young ones to read is my favorite!
I believe in challenging all children through a cooperative, "minds-on" approach. My classroom is one of respect and rapport with a sense of "homey-ness" thrown in!
My research "Gathering Around: A Novice Teacher Implements Class Meetings to Improve Relationships in a First-Grade Classroom” was published as the featured article in Kappa Delta Pi Record Vol. 48, No. 3: July - Sept. 2012.
I attended Texas State University-San Marcos on a full-ride scholarship, where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA in the Mitte Honors program. I then returned to Texas State to do my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction through the Teachers Fellows Program. I currently hold an M.Ed, a Gifted and Talented endorsement, as well as an English as a Second Language certificate.
I am a God-loving, barre3 enthusiast, who enjoys spending time with my husband and dog and cat. Teaching is my heart!
