I've taught ELA in a variety of academic settings for the past 20 years, including high school, community college, and homeschool classes.
I prefer a casual, laidback feel to my classrooms. I believe strongly in giving students clear, step-by-step instruction and lots of experience with a concept before I require expertise. When I create a lesson for my own use, I try to make it engaging, simple, and relevant, while still digging deep and requiring students to "handle" the information before turning an assignment in for a grade.

I have a BA in English with a minor in Communication Arts from Catawba College.
I'm a wife and mom, and my life is full of the fun that four teenage kids bring to the table. I'm a Southern girl, raised mostly in North Carolina, although my early childhood roots are in Arkansas. For me, reading is just a necessary part of your daily routine -- I've usually got three or four books going at the same time. Teaching literature and writing is a joy to me, and I truly enjoy sharing resources with others.
