TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 12 years of experience in the high school classroom in a multitude of facets. I have worked with low-level English Language Learners to some of the brightest students in the school. I have formed programs to work with struggling students in content areas related to state standards and testing and have maintained a high level of student achievement and results.

MY TEACHING STYLE

This is what I am most proud and fittingly--the area in which I believe my audience can most benefit. In nearly 12 full years of teaching, I can count, on one hand, the number of discipline issues I have encountered in my classroom. Simply stated, my creative lessons plans are the PERFECT MIX OF STUDENT INTEREST AND ACADEMIC INTEGRITY. These lessons and their "elegant" design have created an environment of student interest and achievement unprecedented in today's typical high school classrooms. I have found unique approaches to the content and have used this content as a vehicle for SKILL-BASED INSTRUCTION which inspires students to master a skill and apply this skill to ANY content he/she approaches. In this way, my lessons engage students, not just for the sake of fun, but in a manner stimulating the mind and body of the student with lasting results. My students say of my class each year, "This class is fun, but it makes you think." This is the ultimate compliment to what I do, and I want other teachers to share in my successes.
