Dr. Pickett is a life-long learner, educator, mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She embraces all aspects of her career and personal life by honoring what she knows, as well as what she is open to learning to better the environment and experiences of students, teachers, parents, family, and friends. She is committed to growing her knowledge base by embracing current educational research, engaging in rich philosophical discussions, and presenting new ideas to those around her. Her specialties include teacher self-care, edupreneurship, secondary education, communications, writing, creative project management, African American Literature, African American History, African American cultural awareness, race-based trauma, mediation, and self-expression apparel and print product development. Dr. Pickett currently serves as the English Department Instructional Team Leader at the Pittsburgh School for the Creative and Performing Arts and she is the Founder/CEO of an online boutique entitled L Apparel and Print Creations. She loves making memories with her family and also enjoys being an extra in film adaptations of August Wilson’s 10 Play Cycle such as Fences and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom!
