I taught kindergarten for 7 years in high poverty schools as a monolingual teacher in the State of Washington, however, I specialized in language acquisition. I also worked on as a teacher consultant for kindergarten entrance assessments of the State of Washington (waKIDS). I now teach dual language kindergarten in the great state of Texas! It is an adventure every day!
I like to get to know my students individually & often have individual plans going for many of my kiddos. I love organization because it makes my classroom run smoothly!
National Board Certified Teacher- English as a New Language
While I was in college, I taught third & first grades as part of my training program. I also taught English to 3-year-olds at a preschool in Seville, Spain as an international student teacher before doing my US student teaching in first grade. I worked my way through college as the Educational Programs Coordinator in a neighborhood Boys & Girls Club, battling gangs, poverty & child hunger.
I speak Spanish fluently & also have a degree in Spanish Literature. Someday, I hope to teach abroad again.
