I have taught high school Spanish for 9 years at my very own Alma Mater in South Carolina. I was inspired to teach Spanish by my two high school Spanish teachers because they made learning another language so much fun! I enjoy teaching lessons that are straightforward, yet very engaging. I incorporate activities on a daily basis to help students have fun while they are learning. I love having the students present projects to demonstrate their knowledge and to prepare them for the next level of Spanish.
As a high school student, I was awarded the overall excellence in Spanish award. In college, I received the Achievement in Spanish Education award before beginning my student teaching. My Teacher Shining Moment was when a student in May of 2019 wrote on her End of the Year Reflection Survey, “ With this class, I think if anyone from this class took a trip to a Spanish speaking country, I think any one of us would be able to hold up a conversation with a native speaker.” [heart eyes]
I attended the University of South Carolina Upstate, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Education in 2011. After graduating, I traveled to Spain twice, visiting Madrid, Barcelona, and Segovia. I also traveled to Nicaragua in 2009 for a mission trip. In 2016, I received my Masters in Education from Anderson University.
I recently married the man of my dreams and we just celebrated our two year anniversary! We have four fur babies: Stardust, Phoebe, Abby, and Smokie. They make our life complete. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, eating Chick-Fil-A, watching movies, and dancing. I am blessed!
