TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my fifth year teaching Kindergarten. Prior to teaching, I was a Kindergarten Assistant for 6 years and a Special Education Assistant for 10 years. I decided to pursue a teaching certificate to fulfill a dream. I went back to college with my two daughters. My poor husband had 3 girls in college at once. Finally we are all finished. Teaching Kindergarten is my dream job. I love seeing the growth in the children each day. It makes my day when I see their faces light up when they realize that they are learning. I love making my kiddos know that they are readers and writers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have a "Hands-On" approach with Kindergarten children. I believe in challenging my children each day and holding them to a higher level. I have high expectations for my Kindergarten children. I believe learning should be fun and engaging.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I graduated college with a 4.0 grade point average. My classroom was the Math Studio classroom this year for Kindergarten teachers in my district. Literacy Studio for Kindergarten and First Grade 2014. West Buncombe Teacher Of the Year 2015-16.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina with a Birth-Kindergarten license. I am also certified to teach K-6.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love being a wife, mother and "Nanny" to three beautiful grandchildren.
