I am entering my 10th year in education, and I've taught 7th-12th grade during my entire teaching career (including student teaching with 8th graders!). I've spent 8 of my years in education with 7th graders, but I am making a switch to high school English this coming school year. I am looking forward to the change and expect to use many resources on Teachers Pay Teachers to help me with this transition!
My classroom is very organized and structured. I cannot function with controlled chaos, so my students know what I expect from them, and they *usually* perform with those expectations in mind. My lesson plans and activities are also very structured, but they offer flexibility for adapting as needed to fit various classroom styles. Overall, I am a supporter of the shift to Common Core State Standards, and I feel that I have a very strong understanding of the standards at each grade level but specifically 7th through 12th grade. Many of my lessons and activities will revolve around Common Core State Standards.

I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor's degree in English Education in December 2004. I went back to school in January 2012 to obtain my Master's degree in Secondary Education, and I graduated from William Carey University in May 2013.
My husband, Paul, and I have been married for 6 years, and together we have two boys - Joseph, age 4 and Matthew, age 10 months. I absolutely adore being the mother of two boys, and I enjoy spending time outside playing with them in my spare time.
