I am a high-school ESL teacher from Brooklyn, NY. I teach students from all backgrounds! My students speak over 30 different languages combined; the most common languages are Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, French, Fulani, Georgian, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Mandarin, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Tajik, Urdu, and Uzbek. Although I teach high school, many of my students are 19 or 20 years old, so I enjoy creating resources that cater toward an older crowd. I have also taught adult ESL to speakers of Arabic -- this is one of my most memorable experiences.

I started teaching after spending years working as a live sound engineer and a theatrical sound designer. While working in theatre, I composed and arranged music in over a dozen languages. That -- in addition to my own passion for studying languages -- somehow led me to teaching. I'm not quite sure how it happened or when the turning point was, but I remember being overtaken by a desire to become a language teacher.
In my spare time, I love to study languages. I speak Spanish, Sicilian, and Italian, and I'm trying to learn Russian and Arabic. I know the alphabets, but I'm working on the speaking part! I have done some research on the Sicilian language, Siculo-Arabic, and present-day Maltese. I enjoy studying sociolinguistics, second language acquisition (heritage language acquisiton in particular), and music. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my daughter.
