TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught math and science on four continents over the past 27 years. I have taught math from grade 6 through AP Calculus and science from 7th grade through high school chemistry and AP Chemistry and physics. My experience includes teaching for Peace Corps in Kenya as well as teaching overseas with the Department of Defense. I have developed many of the math and science tests, quizzes, and worksheets that I use with my students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In both math and science, I believe that the best way students can demonstrate true mastery of their subject matter is to solve problems which require that students understand the vocabulary and symbols used and apply the correct formulas. Most of my science tests consist of word problems that students must extract the correct information from and then solve the problems.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My main award has been to teach the subjects I enjoy teaching to students who are able to work with them. Give the shiny medals and trophies to somebody else.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Although I graduated with a BA in Sociology/Anthropology from Florida International University in 1973, I re-enrolled in the University and took the advanced math courses that let me come back to my one true enjoyment - that of solving problems in math and physical sciences. I also enjoy coming up with new math and science tests and watch students solve them.

Married for close to 30 years. I enjoy distance running and travel..
