TEACHING EXPERIENCE

First entry into education was in August 2012 as a substitute teacher. It was a gradual progression...my first substitute experience almost derailed me back into retail :-( Moved to Waco, Texas and began subbing again in January 2013 to new results. The teaching bug crawled from the excitement of the students, bit me, and I was encouraged to pursue my alternative certification in English Language Arts. I started teaching Middle School 8th grade English in 2014 and it was a wrap ever since. I love breaking down stories and text to build a students understanding of vocabulary and new concepts so reading skills are acquired.

MY TEACHING STYLE

"I do, you do, WE ALL DO!" AVID strategies Adjust on the fly Love over like (Overlook student and colleagues faults to see needs. Do this and eventually people will like you) Close monitor Question chaining (meaning a succession of questions will be asked based on responses given by students to challenge students to dig deeper)
