I have been teaching for a few years now, all in Gwinnett County schools. I have taught 7th, 8th, and 9th grade social studies. I love teaching and I love social studies. I always try to make learning fun and engaging for my students.
I try to balance my teaching with direct instruction, self-paced extension activities, projects that promote critical thinking and address real-world problems, and LOTS of technology! I am constantly striving to find new ways to become a better teacher while I help my kids become better students.
Academically, I have been on the Dean's List and President's List as an undergraduate. I graduated Magna Cum Laude. I was a member of the Education Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi, the Honor Society for International Studies, Sigma Iota Rho, and the Charter President for my unversity's chapter of the History Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta. Professionally, I have been content leader for social studies. I have given several staff presentations and county presentations in the area of technology. I have also mentored new teachers to the profession, as well as multiple student teachers.
I have a Bachelors' Degree in History and I am currently working on completing my Masters' Degree in History as well.
I am married with 3 boys at home. When I'm not busy stepping on legos or fighting a light saber battle, I am working to make my lessons better. Please contact me if you ever need something specific.
