TEACHING EXPERIENCE

2nd year science teacher at an alternative school in Covington, KY.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love using as many hands on, interactive activities and labs possible. We cannot learn science without doing it! Almost every class, the kids are up and moving around the room or working at their lab stations.

Teach For America

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Florida State University with minors in Spanish and Child Development. I'm currently working on my Master's of Science in Education through Johns Hopkins University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Hi! My name is Marissa, and I'm currently in my second year teaching science in Covington, Kentucky through a program called Teach For America. I teach at an alternative school which means the kids that are expelled or unable to be successful in the traditional classroom are sent to our program for about 6-8 weeks so we can try to get them back on the right track behaviorally. It is definitely a challenge working with a revolving door of students, but I am so blessed I get to work with these kids and play this role in such a pivotal time in their life. I teach Biology, middle school NGSS standards, and an intervention period where we work on algebra, reading, and writing skills. My passion is working toward ending educational inequity. I hope you enjoy these products- I know my kids sure do!
