TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began teaching in 2004 and since then, I've spent a lot of time challenging my students to think creatively, laughing with them while they laugh at me, and drinking a lot of Diet Coke. Now for the serious stuff ... National Board Certified Teacher of Middle Grades ELA Grades Taught: 6-11 Courses Taught: Creative Writing, Journalism, English 1-3, Language Arts 6-8, and Yearbook

MY TEACHING STYLE

If you're not laughing, you're not learning. I believe in creating a fun and inviting atmosphere for my students, where they can grow as independent learners. I believe in challenge them - no true false, multiple choice, or easy answer questions here.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My dog thinks I'm pretty awesome. She honors me with slobbery kisses every day. That counts, right? I was teacher of the year for my school in 2009 and 2013 if that kind of stuff matters to you!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Central Florida Community College (AA in English), University of Florida (BA in English with minor in Secondary Education) ... I also attended several (please consider several code for "a zillion") professional development courses to keep learning as I taught.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I currently teach online students and it's a blast. In addition to the one-on-one attention I am able to provide, I am allowed to teach in yoga pants. You guys. YOGA PANTS.
