I have taught everything from 8th grade Language Arts to 12th grade Composition in my fifteen years of teaching. Currently, I teach 9th grade honors English, Creative Writing, and European Literature I (a humanities class) in a wonderfully supportive school
I feel that I am more of a facilitator than a teacher. I love to conduct my classroom through mini lessons, cooperative learning, and discussions. In my experience, students learn best when they are engaged through exploration, discovery, and teaching. I provide support, motivation, and focus. I believe in student choice and an emphasis on process in both writing and reading.
Yet to be added
I graduated from The University of Akron with a Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary education. My concentration is in English/Language Arts/Journalism; I also hold a reading certificate for grades k-12. I finished my master's degree from the same university in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in composition.
I am married to a teacher/coach and we have two little girls and a Chocolate Lab. Life is good.
