I have 26 years of teaching experience. I taught elementary school for 23 years, 13 of it as a gifted resource teacher. Now I teach 6th grade in middle school, teaching accelerated math, gifted accelerated math, and 'super' accelerated math! I began writing curriculum in 2002 and my first book was published in 2004. My style leans heaving on inquiry and cooperative groups. I use the math workshop model in my classroom.
I have been awarded a half dozen grants from foundations, Best Buy, and Kids in Need. In 2009 I was named as the Gifted Resource Teacher of the Year by the Gwinnett Alliance for Gifted Education.
I grew up 'up north,' attending schools in Arlington Heights, IL, Stow, OH, and Troy, MI before moving south to attend HS in Clearwater, FL. I attended the University of Georgia for my BS Ed. I also have advanced degrees from Georgia State University and Piedmont College.
I am a certified Zumba instructor and teach several times a week!
