TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm currently an elementary music teacher in the far western suburbs of Chicago. I have also taught elementary classroom, middle school music, gifted education and other subjects at public, private and classical schools over the past 24 years. I am constantly reflecting on my practice to keep my instruction innovative and fresh!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like my students to be excited, engaged and encouraged. My classroom is rarely silent; I prefer that the students be up and moving, working with each other productively, and as much as possible engaging in authentic learning experiences. I am a motivator and champion for each of my students, helping them to find their gifts and make the most of them!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I graduated Cum Laude with Honors from Illinois State University, and have never received less than an excellent teaching evaluation. I have done graduate work in gifted ed, dyslexia, and middle school education.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BS in Ed (Elementary Classroom) from ISU Grad work in gifted ed, dyslexia, middle school ed (ISU, NIU, U California Hayward, Benedictine U) and a variety of courses in Common Core, PLC's and Charlotte Danielson

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My two children are 19 and 22. My daughter recently graduated from Aurora University with a degree in Psychology, and my son is in Sports Communications at Bradley University. Although my daughter is dyslexic, she and my son both graduated high school with honors. I am passionate about letting people know that dyslexia is not a disability but a brain difference found in many of the world's most gifted people!
