I have taught for 28 years in the Austin ISD school district, the last 20 teaching 6th grade Math and Science. I have also lead training on CMP Math and using technology.
I am a local actor and president of the non-profit Zilker Theatre Productions. As a result, I view teaching as performance art. My students are my audience and each day's lessons are a combination of comedy and drama which I hope my students remember long after they leave 6th grade. Finding unique and challenging ways to present material is a constant quest and I am not above climbing on a table or breaking out into song if it will make the lesson more memorable.
Teacher of the Year 2008 PAEMST nominee 2006, 2007
I grew up in Austin and am a product of the Austin public education system. I graduated from Baylor University in 1984 and began teaching that same year.
