TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've spent 3 years teaching 2nd grade, and 5 years teaching 3rd grade. For the last 5 years I've also been my school's Building Level Technology Coach.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I tend to be silly and have fun in the classroom. I believe that students have to WANT to learn and be ENGAGED in their learning in order to retain any information. I use a lot of goofy voices, exaggerated examples, and silly mnemonics in my teaching. I also believe that students need to take responsibility for their own learning. A lot of what I do is geared toward students creating and completing activities, rather than me lecturing and boring them into a nap. I don't use a lot of clip art in my lessons (unless it's central to the objective being taught), because I believe that my munchkins could/should create their own! And it can be distracting for those already distractable students.
