MY TEACHING STYLE

I do not have a definite teaching style to signify my method of instruction, but I do believe in an interactive learning framework which allows students to become active learners instead of passive. My focus is on visual and kinesthetic enforcement accompanied with traditional textbook based instruction. My goal is to provide different ways of representing the same topic so that students have a variety of ways of understanding material they are presented with.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

- Throughout my college career I remained on the Dean's List with one year on the President's List. - HOPE Scholarship

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Georgia Military College (Undergraduate) Georgia State University (Undergraduate/Graduate) TEFL International Institute of Barcelona

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My teaching experience ranges from Biological Sciences to English as a Second Language. I began teaching when I was in undergraduate school at Georgia Military College and then in graduate school at Georgia State University. At both institutions, I was a Supplemental Instructor for a Microbiology and Molecular Cell Biology lab. This is where I discovered my passion and niche for teaching. Before I began my research thesis project, I decided to travel abroad for a couple years to Spain. First in Barcelona, where I obtained my TEFL teaching certification, then Sitges and finally ended in Madrid. I started teaching as a private ESL Instructor in Barcelona and Sitges, then moved onto the Business ESL world when I moved to Madrid. In Madrid, I worked for three different companies, all dedicated to improving their employees' level of English. In July of 2011, I decided to move back to the United States to continue teaching ESL in Fort Lauderdale. Here is where I worked for EmbassyCES as an Advanced ESL Instructor. My primary focus there was in university and FCE preparation for ESL students. Now, I am happy to say that I am back in Atlanta, where I am from, working at ICT Technical College as an Adjunct ESL Instructor.
